When the team behind Australia’s first conference dedicated to jobs-focused social enterprises approached us, they needed more than just a website – they needed a digital hub that could bring their vision to life and rally a community.

This exclusive event, limited to just 300 attendees, has been designed as a space for authentic dialogue and vulnerability, where participants can engage in challenging conversations. The Summit’s aim is to move beyond surface-level discussions and delve deeply into complex issues by posing the difficult questions.

A key objective of the Summit is to unite jobs-focused social enterprises with government representatives, funders, and organizations from related sectors like disability enterprises and establish a collaborative network focused on shared learning, mutual support, and innovation – ultimately strengthening the collective voice of jobs-focused social enterprises across Australia.

BUILDING FOR CHANGE-MAKERS

With momentum building among government, philanthropy, and corporate partners who recognize the value of jobs-focused social enterprises, the Summit needed a digital presence that could harness this energy and transform it into meaningful participation. The brief? Design and build a full website for the event – complete with a complex, interactive conference program page – and do it all in three weeks. It was a tight turnaround, but we were all in.

The branding (expertly created by Julia at Amadeus Brand) provided an excellent foundation for the digital experience. We were excited to run wild (respectfully, of course) with the bright, bold colour palette. It’s not every day you get to play with a palette full of greens, blues and purples this punchy in a corporate setting.

Our focus was on creating a site that felt vibrant, clear, and easy to navigate. With an audience ranging from policy makers and funders to grassroots change-makers, the site needed to communicate a lot, quickly, and without overwhelming people. We carefully designed a user experience that made key information easy to access while allowing the content to breathe. On the UI side, we had a blast playing with the bold colours and striking typography that Julia had developed, turning every page into something that felt dynamic, inclusive, and full of energy.

DESIGNING FOR REAL-TIME COMPLEXITY

The most technically complex element was the interactive conference program page. The challenge involved presenting complex scheduling information in a user-friendly format that worked across all devices. It had to be flexible enough to handle frequent updates to speakers and sessions, while still remaining intuitive and visually clean. We built a custom interactive layout that made it easy for attendees to scan the schedule, find session details, and toggle between different days and times. It was a bit of a puzzle to get right, but the end result is something we’re super proud of.

THE RESULTS

The site launched on time and the feedback from the client was incredible. With the summit happening this June, the site is already doing its job – building momentum, sharing the vision, and helping people get excited about what’s to come. We feel genuinely honoured to have played a part in bringing this mission to life online.

This one was fast, fun, and full of heart – our kind of project.
