Kylie came to us with an existing website that no longer reflected her evolving niche, personality or the way she works. A DREAM CLIENT (AND PROJECT)
This kind of project is genuinely our bread and butter. We love working with individual counsellors, psychotherapists and mental health practitioners who have built something deeply personal and need a website that actually feels like them. Small, founder-led businesses give us so much room to understand the person behind the work and create something far more individual than a standard industry template.
Kylie was an absolute delight to work with from beginning to end. She came to us open to ideas, with beautiful inspiration, a clear sense of what didn’t feel right anymore, and enough trust to let us experiment with what could come next. The whole project flew by. It was colourful, collaborative, creative and honestly just really fun to make.
OUR DESIGN APPROACH
One of the biggest goals was moving away from the slightly dark, stock-photo-heavy feeling of Kylie’s previous website.
We explored quite a few colour iterations before landing on a palette that felt brighter, warmer and more playful, while still being appropriate for a psychotherapy practice. There are rich teals and greens, warmer pops of pink, plenty of white space and just enough unexpected detail to stop it feeling like another generic therapist website.
We also simplified Kylie’s existing logo. Rather than throwing away something that was already recognisably hers, we stripped it back and gave it a more minimal treatment that sits much more comfortably within the new design. We think the final direction balances professionalism with personality, which is pretty spot on for what Kylie was after!
BUILT FOR KYLIE TO MANAGE
A big part of this project was making the website easier for Kylie to manage herself as the business owner. Her previous setup had made relatively simple updates feel much more complicated than they needed to be. We rebuilt the site in WordPress using Elementor, keeping the backend intentionally streamlined and setting up reusable styles, colours and components throughout.
We also migrated the website onto our hosting, handled the transition from her previous provider, set up daily backups and security, and created a temporary coming soon page so there wasn’t an awkward period with no website while the new one was being finished.
At handover, we went through everything together, from editing text and images to publishing blogs and making simple page updates, so Kylie isn’t dependent on a developer every time she wants to change a sentence.
THE TECHY STUFF BEHIND THE PRETTY STUFF
There was plenty happening behind the scenes too. We cleaned up the site’s SEO foundations, created page titles and meta descriptions around Kylie’s psychotherapy and counselling services, connected analytics and prepared the site for conversion tracking so she can start getting a clearer picture of how people discover and interact with her practice.
We also looked at the wider setup around her business, including professional email, booking functionality, hosting, security and ongoing website management. None of that is particularly glamorous, but it’s the stuff that turns a pretty website into something that can actually support a business.

“The whole process was super easy and enjoyable. Em was warm, friendly and so easy to collaborate with. Nothing was a problem. I feel way more confident than with my old website, more ready to promote my practice, and so happy with the result.”

FOREVER OUR FAVOURITE PROJECT TYPE
We absolutely loved working on this one. Working with individual counsellors, psychotherapists and mental health practitioners is genuinely our bread and butter. There’s something really special about taking a practice that is deeply personal and translating the person behind it into a website that feels completely their own.
For Kylie, the biggest result wasn’t just a prettier website. She told us she now feels far more confident in her online presence and more ready to actively promote her practice, which is exactly what we wanted the new site to give her.
Colourful, creative, personal and a huge step forward from where we started. Definitely one of those projects that reminded us why we love what we do.
